Service areas around Cleveland we book rides in

This desk works one metro area. It does not claim national coverage, because it does not have it, and a national claim would be the easiest thing on this site to disprove.

The counties

Cuyahoga County is the core, and most bookings sit inside it. Cleveland itself, the near west side through Ohio City and Lakewood, the eastern suburbs from Shaker Heights and Beachwood out through Mayfield and Willoughby, and the southern ring through Independence, Brecksville, Strongsville and Middleburg Heights.

Lake County to the north east: Mentor, Willoughby, Eastlake, Painesville and the lakefront towns. Runs from here to Hopkins cross the whole metro, so allow more time than the distance suggests.

Lorain County to the west: Avon, Avon Lake, North Ridgeville, Elyria and Westlake at the county line. Close to Hopkins and among the quickest airport runs in the service areas.

Medina County to the south west: Medina, Brunswick and Strongsville at the boundary.

Summit County to the south: Akron, Fairlawn, Hudson and Stow. Both Hopkins and Akron Canton are sensible airports from here, and the desk will say which one makes more sense for your flight.

Geauga County to the east: Chesterland, Chardon and the Chagrin Valley. Rural roads, which in January is a real factor in the pick up time rather than a decorative detail.

The airports

• Cleveland Hopkins International, CLE. The main airport for the region and the destination of

most runs booked here. Roughly twelve miles from downtown.

• Akron Canton, CAK. An hour or so south of Cleveland, and often the better answer for

passengers in Summit County.

• Burke Lakefront, BKL. Right on the downtown lakefront, used mostly by general aviation.
• Cuyahoga County, CGF. In Richmond Heights, also general aviation.

Named as facilities, not as brands. No airline is named anywhere on this site.

Where the edges are

Being specific about this is more useful than a map with a soft gradient on it.

Routinely booked: anywhere in the six counties above, to or from any of the four airports.

Quoted case by case: longer runs out of the region, for example to Columbus, Pittsburgh, Detroit or Erie. They are possible, they are expensive, and the desk will tell you what the train or the scheduled coach costs as well.

Not booked: anything outside driving distance, immediate on demand pick ups, medical transport, and vehicles requiring a wheelchair lift or a certified attendant. Those need specialist operators and we say no rather than improvising.

Weather, because this is the north coast

From late November to March, lake effect snow is a normal operating condition rather than an exception. It falls in narrow bands, so Chardon can have eight inches while Lakewood has none, and the eastern snowbelt is the part of the service areas most likely to change a pick up time.

What the desk does about it: watches the forecast on the day, moves pick ups earlier where a band is sitting over the route, and tells you when it has done so. What the desk cannot do is make the turnpike passable. On the two or three genuinely bad days each winter the honest answer is that a flight is at risk, and you will hear that from us rather than a reassurance.

Availability by area

Availability is generally best in Cuyahoga County at any hour the desk is open, and thinnest for early morning runs from the outer counties, which need arranging the day before. Check availability for your own date on the booking page, or speak to a specialist if the address is unusual.
